You shall not make unto
you any graven image,

in heaven above, or that is in the
earth beneath, or that is in the
water under the earth: You shall
not bow down thyself to them, nor
serve them: for I the LORD your
God am a jealous God, visiting the
iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me;
And showing mercy unto thousands
of them that love me, and keep my
Commandments.  Exodus 20:4-6

Remember the sabbath
day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do
all thy work: But the seventh day is
the sabbath  of the LORD thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work,
thou, nor thy son, nor thy
daughter, thy manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six  days the LORD made
heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that in  them is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore the LORD
blessed the sabbath day, and
hallowed it.  Exodus 20:8-11

"The Ten Commandments"

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.
1 John 5:3

In Christ, we are not forced to obey the Ten Commandments.  We have
moved under Grace ... but we are compelled to obey them out of love for
Him.  It is Christ who writes the Law in our hearts when we receive Him
as our Saviour.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:17-18 that He did not come to
abolish or do away with the Law or the Ten Commandments -  He came to
fulfill them.  I believe they are still relevant for those who are in Christ
today, because they help us to live lives that glorify His Name.

The Ten Commandments never did and never will possess any saving
power. They were never given to make us righteous. They are moral
and ethical guidelines for every day living. They are timeless principles.

They are moral absolutes that represent acceptable behavior,
not just for then ... or even today ... but I believe, forever.
The Name and Character of God should be displayed in the lives of Christians who still take His Word seriously.
