Heaven vs Hell
One day a man was talking with
the Lord about heaven and hell.
The Lord said to the man,
"Come, I will show you hell".
They entered a room where a group
of famished people were sitting
around a huge pot of cooking stew.
Everyone in the room was
starving and desperate.
Each person held a spoon that
reached the pot, but the handle
was much longer than their own
arms, making it impossible to get
the stew into their own mouths.
The suffering was terrible!
"Come now", said the Lord,
"I will show you heaven".
So they entered another room which
was identical to the first - it had the
same big pot of stew and the same group
of people with their long-handled spoons.
But here, everyone was
happy and well nourished!
"I don't understand", said the man.
"Why is everyone happy in here, but
miserable in the other room, when
everything appears to be the same?"
"The difference in here," said the Lord, "is that in
this room, they have learned to feed one another".
